Step-by-Step: How to Put Eye Drops in Your Eyes

Follow these steps to put in your eye drops:

1. Wash your hands

2. Tilt your head back and look up

3. Lightly pull your lower eyelid down and away from your eyeball
   (this makes a “pocket” for the drops)

4. With your other hand, hold the eye drop bottle upside down with the tip just above the “pocket”
   (it is important to not let the tip of the bottle touch anything)

5. Squeeze the prescribed number of eye drops into the “pocket”

6. Close your eye and lightly press your finger on your tear duct
   (this keeps the eye drop from draining into your nose)

*Important to note if you are prescribed more than one type of eye drop,
you must wait at least 5 minutes between each drop.
