Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)
Why perform Selective Laser Trabeculoplasty (SLT)?
SLT is used to lower your eye pressure
It may lower the eye pressure by about 20-30%
Effective in about 80% of patients
The laser effect wears off after several years, but the laser can be repeated
SLT is not a cure for glaucoma and regular follow-ups are required

SLT risks may include:
Redness
Irritation
Light sensitivity
Temporary blurry vision
Floaters
Corneal swelling
Uveitis/Iritis
Dry eye
Increased eye pressure
Change in refractive error
In rare cases SLT may be associated with permanent significant vision loss
Preparation instructions:
Use all of your medications and eye drops as prescribed
Consume your food and drink as usual
You must bring a driver
An anesthetic drop will be put in your eye(s) to numb the area
While it is normal to feel nervous, the procedure only takes minutes to perform and is generally very well tolerated
Post-treatment instructions:
Vision may be blurred, do not operate a vehicle or heavy machinery until the next day
A prescription for a drop will be provided to you for the following days
You will be provided a follow-up appointment in 6-8 weeks
